LOS ANGELES -115 (SANTANA) VS. CHICAGO (BUEHRLE) 10:05 ET

The Halos dropped a tough game by a 3-2 count last night to the pale hose. Jose Contreras was just too tough, and the Halos just couldn’t muster enough offense off him or Jenks. Things look to be different tonight though as it’s the angels that have the starting pitching advantage this time around. Mark Buehrle looks to have gotten it together of late, but he’s a completely different pitcher on the road. His ERA balloons up to 5.67, and he’s nowhere near as mesmerizing with his stuff. The Halos got the better of him earlier this year tagging him for 7 hits and 6 earned runs in just 6 innings of work. I’m looking for more of the same tonight. Ervin Santana’s been money at home this season. He sports a 9-2 overall mark and has an ERA of 3.17. He’s won 4 of his L/5 home starts, and looks to become the Angels first 15 game winner this year tonight. With a chance to make up some ground in both the Wild Card and AL West with Minny and Oakland squaring off, I’m looking for the Angels to play their butts off in this three game set. It all starts tonight, and the added incentive of gaining revenge against the pale hose for knocking them out of the post-season last year also has me loving the home squad tonight.

CINCINNATI +120 (MILTON) VS. SAN DIEGO (YOUNG) 7:10 ET

My how things change in a span of two weeks. The Reds had the lead in the Wild card race before they took a 10-game trip out West to take on the NL West. They lost eight of those 10 games overall, and now find themselves 3.5 games out of the Wild Card and 5 games back of St. Louis in the Central. They only have seven games left in the comfy confines of the Great American Ballpark, and know they must protect their house in order to have any say in these races whatsoever. Eric Milton has gotten a good 10 days rest after last pitching in the series finale at San Diego on the third. He went 6 innings in that game only surrendering 5 hits and 1 unearned run, and he’s won two of the three times he’s started against the father. The reds, like the Padres have come up with huge late inning wins at home this year. Chris Young has gotten past the 6th inning only once in his L/10 starts, and I’m looking for some late inning heroics to come about once again in this spot. The Reds are a rabid home pup tonight, so take the plus change and get ready for some fireworks.

FLORIDA -117 (JOHNSON) VS. NEW YORK (PEREZ) 7:05 ET

Josh Johnson has been nothing short of solid all season long, and has been a pleasant surprise for MGR Girardi’s rotation. He got blown up his last outing, but that was the game after Anibal Sanchez threw his no-hitter and the Marlins were a bit fatigues after partying all night. Look for him to bounce back tonight against the Mets who might have done some celebrating of their own last night after clinching the NL East after the Braves lost to the Cubs. The Marlins just continue to sizzle. They pounded the Mets into submission last night by bashing 20 hits and scoring 16 runs, and now find themselves just two games in back of San Diego for the Wild Card lead. They face another weak lefty tonight in Oliver Perez whose 0-6 on the road this year and has a bloated ERA of 10.58 and WHIP of 2.41. Inexplicably, he threw a complete game shut-out against the Braves his last time out in Shea, so his gem for the season is now gone.
