Bet Depaul/West Virginia Under 125

The Big East has been predominantly an UNDER conference this season, and DePaul has been one of the main reasons why.

The UNDER is now 6-1 in all Blue Demon conference games this year, as well as a very profitable 12-7 in all DePaul games this season. Moreover the last three UNDERS have come in games that produced combined total scores of 118, 109 and 97 points respectively! You just know that the Demons will try to slow the pace of this game to a crawl, especially playing on the road vs. one of the few Big East teams that can actually score.

Yes West Virginia is averaging 71.8 points per game, but that has more to do with their ability to hit three-point shots than it does with running the floor. Thus we expect the Mountaineers to have fewer possessions than usual vs. this plodding DePaul team here, and that could very well upset their rhythm from the perimeter. Do not forget also that the West Virginia defense is allowing just 49.1 points per game vs. Division I opponents here at home this season, limiting those clubs to a pathetic 35.3 percent shooting from the floor!

Bet on Washington +5

The battle for the Apple Cup is what these clubs battle for on the college grid-iron, but it’s all about bragging rights tonight as the Huskies invade Pullman to take on the 21st ranked Cougars. What a difference a year makes as it was the Cougars that were installed as underdogs in both of their meetings last season. No doubt Wazzou deserves to be the chalk in this spot due to their stellar home play, but I’ve got a feeling the Huskies will get the better of them in this spot. We all know that Wazzou would love nothing more than to slow it down and bore you to death. However, that could prove to be fatal tonight with the size the Huskies possess. Washington is a much different team this season that can readily adapt to play the slow style of play due to big men Brockman and Hawes. I’m looking for Wash to ride these guys to at least a cover if not a SU win in this spot. This might be a younger Husky bunch, but they still remember dropping last years game at home to these same Cougars, and they’d love nothing more than to return the favor this time around. Expect a very game effort from HC Romar’s kids tonight, and don’t be shocked if they hold the bragging rights until they meet again.

Todaythe play is Washington Huskies +5!!

Bet on Purdue +5.5

Today, I say bet on Purdue +5.5.  Just one week ago Purdue rolled up and smoked the Wolverines as 5-point home chalks! They cruised the entire game, and ended up winning by a comfy double-digit margin. The Boilers took care of business against these same Wolverines and yet they find themselves installed as the same type of dogs on the road this time around. I know Purdue hasn’t been the greatest on the road this season (2-6 SU RD/NEU), but they put forth a solid effort their last time out at Wiscy and covered easily as double-digit pups. I believe they’ll carry the confidence over from that game, and they certainly know they can handle these Wolverines with ease if they get right back to doing what they did only a short week ago. Michigan certainly is a completely different animal in Ann Arbor, but these teams are so even in terms of talent that you just have to take the points on Purdue here. This contest will be much more competitive than the first time around, and I feel it won’t be determined until the final minutes of play.

The bet is Purdue +5.5 !!

Realized vs. Potential Value - Limit Hold’em

Before the river card falls you give a lot of consideration to the possibilities for you and your opponents based on an unseen card and the chance of that card to improve your chances. Once the river card is dealt, it is what it is. After the river card is dealt your hand only has realized value.

The promise you saw in a hand that had made top pair as well as a four flush draw on the turn was based on both potential and realized value. Your job on the river is now to decide your next action only based upon the realized value of your hand. If the four flush draw misses on the river you are now only playing with the top pair you already made. You need to realize this right away; your hand only has realized value at this point. Your decision to bet, fold or check if you’re first to act or re-raise if someone has bet in front of you can only be based upon your realized value. Understand this, and now proceed with the best strategy to win what is in the middle of the table.

Patriots Fear the Qualcomm Stadium

“I want to hear it ASAP, louder when L.T. is about to get the ball and going to break another record or something.” said NFL sacks leader Shawne Merriman. The New England Patriots will be traveling across the country only to be confronted with a hostile Southern California crowd whos decibel level might impede in Tom Brady’s play calling. Not to mention that the Pats will be facing a 14-2 record home-field advantage team. It has already been announced that no more tickets to Sunday’s playoff game will be sold to Southern California residents. Me being from Cali I wouldnt mind watching the game at home with an ice cold corona and a bet on the Chargers. The teams have faced off only once in the playoffs, at Balboa Stadium in San Diego in the 1963 AFL title game. The Chargers won 51-10 behind a big game from another outstanding running back– 206 yards rushing and 123 yards receiving by Keith Lincoln. The last meeting in San Diego came in 2002 when the Chargers won 21-14 against the Patriots, the defending Super Bowl champions at the time. Those were different teams in different seasons, but playing at home should fire up the Chargers on Sunday.

Bet on the Chicago Bears at Seattle Seahawks

The pick here is defintely Da Bears. Take the Bears to cover by 10 at home. They are 100% perfect ATS as a 7.5 to 10 point favorite the last 3 seasons. I say bet on the Bears defense to shut down this Seahawks offense completely. I would not be surprised if they held them to 10 points or less. The Bears have outscored their opponents by an average of over 12 points per game at home this season, while Seattle is 0-4 ATS against NFC North opponents this season.
