West Virginia was able to overcome a sluggish first half in its most recent victory. The Mountaineers, though, now they will likely need to start off on a different foot when they face Maryland on Thursday night.

The fourth-ranked (2-0) Mountaineers won 48-23 at Marshall on Saturday. It is evident that they needed to overcome a 13-6 halftime deficit to do so. West Virginia outscored Marshall 21-0 in the fourth quarter to finally pull away.

Their well fought for win may have contributed to their one spot drop on the AP TOP 25 but I still think this is one hell of a team for this coming season.

It is also very important to keep in mind that Maryland hasn’t beaten a top 5 ranked team since a 20-17 victory over then-No. 5 Florida State on Oct. 30, 2004. The Terps are 2-10 against ranked teams since that win.
